Alvar Aalto Foundation maintains the material and intellectual legacy of the world-famous architect and designer Alvar Aalto, and acts to make his work and thinking more widely known. The Foundation’s sites in Helsinki and Jyväskylä are meeting points for friends of architecture and design from all over the world. The Foundation sells Alvar Aalto Shop products, sketch books, architecture and design books and a varied selection of design products by Artek. Artek was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by Aino and Alvar Aalto among others. Aino Aalto came to play an important part at Artek as Design Director and Managing Director.
